ACT NOW TO END HUNGER IN YOUR COMMUNITY
Did you know? South Carolina has the second highest percentage of hungry people in the nation! Fields to Families
was established to help address this issue. Our focus isn't on canned and packaged goods. Our focus is
on improving the nutrition of hungry citizens in our area by coordinating the distribution of fresh, healthful
produce – fruits and vegetables.
Fields to Families
works to ease hunger in the Lowcountry by gathering nutritious crops from
generous farmers and community gardeners. We then distribute the harvest to agencies such as
Meals on Wheels, local food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and churches. In turn, these recipient agencies
donate this food to the individuals they serve.
Even though fruits and vegetables are considered the foundation of a healthy diet, the
hungry and needy almost never eat fresh produce. That’s because they are provided with mostly
canned and packaged food from emergency food programs. Fields to Families is addressing South Carolina's hunger problem in the
most healthy way.
